Obituary for Jeanne M. FitzGerald
Jeanne Marie (McCormick) FitzGerald
March 9, 1930 – September 14, 2016
A wonderful lady left us today. She will be remembered with profound love by her six sons; Peter, Sam (and Karen), Ben (and Barb), Geoff (and Ellen), Mark, Tony (and Lori), twelve grandchildren; Peter Jr., Katie, Garrett, Erin, Zach, Naomi, Kimberly (deceased), Emmett, Tatum, Courtney, Casey, Morgan, and Sean, and nine great grandchildren; Elliot, Eli, Marley, Evin, Chase, Hunter, Reid, Riley, and Rowan.
Jeanne graduated from Rosemount College in 1951 with a degree in English Literature and a love of language. She married the love of her life Bobby and for the next 63 years they raised their family in the town they loved so dearly.
She was a tireless advocate for many causes in Litchfield including; The Oliver Wolcott Library, The Garden Club, The Litchfield Beautification Committee, The Connecticut Junior Republic, Reading for the Blind, Hospice, and the Tree Committee to name a few.
Jeanne was an extraordinary athlete who enjoyed all sports. She was the Women’s Club Champion at the Litchfield Country Club in both golf and tennis on more than one occasion and can only be described as a true competitor in every sense of the word.
Jeanne treasured all of her wonderful family and friends and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. With a deep and abiding faith in the Lord, she begins her journey to the next life where she will be reunited with loved ones and surrounded by God’s external love.

Calling hours will be held at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT 06759 on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4:00-7:00pm. A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield, CT 06759 on September 24, 2016 at 10:00am. Burial will be private.
