Obituary for Robert Charles Ostrander

Robert Charles Ostrander, 68, passed away on October 4, 2015 at home. He was the husband of Sandra Ostrander. Robert was born on December 19, 1946 in Torrington, CT to the late Robert E. and Katherine F. Ostrander.

Robert attended the Bantam School System until 1955, he went through Grammar School at Southwest School in Torrington and was a graduate of Torrington High School in 1965. Robert worked as a Maintenance mechanic at Torrington Housing Authority for 18 years, retiring in 2011. He was a life member of the VFW, USSVI, NRA, V.V.A and a member in good standing at the American Legion Post #27 in Litchfield for 27 years. Robert was a veteran of the US Navy Submarine Service, U.S.S Tirante SS 420. His death was caused by asbestos exposure serving his country. He died for his country fifty years after the fact. He fought his illness valiantly for over 4 years. He is truly a hero!

In addition to his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his daughter Marcy K. Ostrander of Litchfield, his brother James H. Ostrander of Torrington, two sister-in-laws; Rhonda Lobrutlo and her husband Rich and Marcy Dablain, a brother-in-law, Damian Dablain and his wife Lisa, three nephews; Rich Lobrutto, Colin and Nathan Dablain, and two step daughters; Emily and Amy Kish. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alida L. (Dablain) Ostrander .

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11:30am at St. Anthony Cemetery, Litchfield.
