Obituary for Paul Evans

Paul  Evans
LITCHFIELD – Paul Evans, 87, passed away on September 17, 2011, at Litchfield Woods in Torrington. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Schuster) Evans of 45 years. Born September 9, 1924, in Gilberton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Rafferty) Evans.

Paul served his country in the United States Navy from 1943-1946, the U.S. Coast Guard from 1949-1953 and the Merchant Marines from 1956-1959. He retired from PTC Aerospace and later worked for Education Connection. A 30-year Litchfield resident, Paul was a member of the Torrington VFW, the American Legion in Litchfield and Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony’s Coucil No. 56.

He will be remembered mostly for his many jokes, love of children and his collection of “everything.”

In addition to his wife, Mary Jane, he is survived by a son, John-Paul Evans of Litchfield, two daughters, Laura Currier and her husband, Ora, of Torrington and Kelly Evans of Litchfield; three grandchildren, Chrysta, Nicole and Lida Currier; three sisters, Joan Harvey, Gloria Hoesch and Irene Deaver; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Evans and Marie Evans and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield. Military Honors will be accorded following Mass in the church courtyard. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
