Obituary for Charlotte H. Keller

Charlotte H. Keller
Charlotte H. Keller
Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Friend

Charlotte (Haller) Keller died on November 8th at her home in Litchfield, surrounded by her family. Born June 16, 1924 in Spring City, PA, she was the eldest daughter of Charles and Elma (Buckwalter) Haller. She attended Mrs. Reid’s private school for kindergarten. After graduating from Spring City High School she worked for the Pennsylvania Rail Road in Philadelphia. During World War II she worked at Valley Forge Army Hospital, where she met Frank H. Keller, her husband of 65 years. They were married at the George Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge. After the war they moved to Oneida, New York where she raised five children. The family moved to Litchfield in 1969 where she lived happily until her passing. She was co-owner of the Children's Shop of Litchfield. She later worked at the Litchfield Savings Bank, retiring in 1989. After her retirement she was a Hospice volunteer for many years. She also volunteered at the information booth on the Green in Litchfield, and the Congregational Church Gift Shop.

Beloved by her family, she will be remembered for her gentle wisdom, her unselfish nature, her sense of humor, her gift for conversation and her love of books.

She leaves behind four sons: Charles Keller and Carolyn Nelson of Terryville, Frank and Karen Keller of Winston-Salem, NC, William and Bobbie Keller of Litchfield, and James and Brenda Keller of Litchfield, and her daughter, Jean and Richard Evangelisti of Litchfield, with whom she resided. In addition she leaves behind eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister, Patricia Schantz of Limerick, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Frank and her sister Miriam Nelson.

Charlotte’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Richard Krinsky, the crew at CHH Pulmonary Rehab, and Coleen and Jessica from VNA Northwest for their excellent care, kindness and compassion.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Memorial service and burial will be private.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oliver Wolcott Library of Litchfield.
