Ann Marie  Giannattasio
Ann M. Giannattasio, 92, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the wife of the late Daniel Giannattasio. Born and raised in Torrington, CT on November 25, 1925 to the late Marco and Donata Maria (Telsca) Summa.

She graduated from Vogal School and graduated from Torrington High School and Beauty Academy. She was a hair dresser in her home for 65 years, retiring when she was 85 years old.

Ann enjoyed giving back to the City of Torrington, she was chairman of the Torrington Republican Town committee from 1979-2004 then made chairman emeritus from 2004-2018. She was president of the Torrington Republican Women’s Club, a member of the Connecticut State Republican Women, Italian American Republican Club, National Association of Republican Woman and the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary. Ann was also a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church.

Ann enjoyed vacations at Cape Cod through her life with her family and her numerous excursions to the Christmas Tree Shoppes. Her passion until retirement was hair dressing, she was very proud of owning her own business, in her own home, successfully for 65 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Colomb of Torrington, CT her grandson, Kyle Colomb of Harwinton, CT, her nieces; Corrine Beecher of Torrington, Donna Mceachin of Texas, her nephew Mark Summa of Georgia and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brothers; Peter Summa, Dominick Summa and Canio (Kelly) Summa and her sister, Catherine Raimondo.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. A graveside service will be on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:30am at Old St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington, CT.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s honor to the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Litchfield Woods, Companions and Homemaker and Foothills Visiting Nurse and Hospice for all their care and love they showed Ann.
