Robert J. Usher, Sr., 79, passed away on February 24, 2016. He was the husband of Beverly (Evangelisti) Usher. Bob was born on October 7, 1936 in Troy, New York to the late Donald and Honora (Greeley) Usher.

Bob was a lifetime member of the Bantam Fire Company, serving as a past president. He was also a member of both the Connecticut Parade Marshalls Association and the Morgan Weir American Legion Post 27. He was a former selectman. He loved Cape Cod and the time spent there with his family and friends. He was very fond of his granddaughters, nieces and nephews. There was nothing like a good debate, especially a political one. Bob’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving; he never passed up a good turkey dinner cooked by Bev.

In addition to his wife Beverly he is survived by two daughters, Susan LeVander and her husband Steven and Kathleen Usher and her spouse Jeanne Galloway; a son, David Usher; two granddaughters, Meagan LeVander and her fiancé Steven Carlson and Katie LeVander; a former son-in-law, Michael Lunney; two brothers, Donald Usher and his wife Elaine and Charles Usher and his wife Lorraine; a sister-in-law, Linda Bertaccini and her husband Sam; three brothers-in-law; J. David “Butch” Evangelisti, Michael Evangelisti and his wife Ruth and Peter Evangelisti, along with several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a son Robert James Usher, Jr., a sister Salann Ross and her husband Joseph and a sister-in-law Dolores Evangelisti.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bantam Fire House, P.O. Box 456, Bantam, CT 06750 or Our Lady of Grace Church, P.O. Box 427, Bantam, CT 06750.
