Obituary for John Franklin Wilbur

Goshen, John “Jack” Franklin Wilbur, passed away Jan. 5, 2019 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with his loving wife and family at his side. He was 87 years old. Jack was the beloved husband of Betty Ann (Colby) Wilbur. He was born in Sharon, CT the twelfth child of sixteen children born to the late Webster Allen and Charlotte Wagner Wilbur.

Jack retired from the State of Connecticut, DOT. He loved working and spending time outdoors as well as golfing, bowling, fishing and being with his family. He was an associate member of the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department and member of the Goshen Agriculture Society and the Grange. He will be fondly remembered as a prankster who gave a nickname to all of his friends and family.

In addition to his wife Betty Ann, Jack is survived by a daughter Susan Hunt and Jack Malahan, a son John Wilbur and wife Kym, his grandchildren, Kristine Bronson, Amy Christy and husband Mat, The Rev. Josh Wilbur, Zach and Melissa Wilbur and Kelly Bronson, four great-grandchildren, Amber, Hunter, Jackson and Reid Christy, a brother Fred Wilbur, a sister Rita Rundall and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Goshen. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Goshen. Calling hours will be held at the Wilbur Family home, 426 Sharon Turnpike, Goshen, CT on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department or the Goshen Community Care and Hospice.
