Obituary for Daniel Richard Marcella Jr.
Daniel Richard Marcella, Jr., died unexpectedly on Friday, December 14 at his home. He was 83 years old. He was the beloved husband of Loretta Rae Marcella. Dan was born in Torrington on March 28, 1935 son of the late Daniel Richard, Sr. and Grace Christaldi Marcella. He attended local schools and worked for Clearwater Pools, Bartlett Tree Service and at C & F Cleaning.
Dan was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 52 and received several service awards for his role as a scout leader. He enjoyed bowling regularly at Lakewood Lanes. He loved fishing and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Loretta of Torrington, Dan is survived by his son Lee Marcella and his wife Donna of Torrington, a daughter-in-law, Diana Marcella of Columbus, OH, two brothers, Mario of Spokane, WA and Richard of Greenacres, WA, 3 sisters, Lillian Grosso of Torrington, Betty Harris of Spokane, WA and Rosemary Marcella-Miller of Loomis, CA, and 2 grandchildren, Devin and Lynsey Marcella of Torrington. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel Richard Marcella, III
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 19 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Rowe Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon at the funeral home followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery.
