Litchfield - Sally Weik Harnicar, 84, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2018. She was born in Torrington, Connecticut on September 18, 1933 to Andrew and Florence Bunnell Weik.

She married her high school sweetheart, Albert Harnicar, on June 23, 1956 at Our Lady of Grace in Bantam, where she was a lifelong parishioner. She graduated from Litchfield High School and the Art School of Fashion in Hartford.

After living in Montana for three years while her husband was in the Air Force, she spent the rest of her life in Litchfield with Albert and her growing family.

Sally worked in the art department at Sage Allen in Hartford, and then at Brooker Memorial in Torrington, the Tax office in Litchfield, and at the Center School and Intermediate School in Litchfield as a secretary until her retirement. Their travels took them through fifty states and nearly all of the national landmarks, and they also enjoyed cruises throughout the Caribbean. Sally loved art and she and her friend formed an art group at the Litchfield Community Center called “Paint with Friends” and her artwork can be found in homes around the county. Along with her father and brother, Kirby Weik, she lettered signs for local and community businesses and had fun painting large murals at the Intermediate school. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching and spending time with the neighbor’s cats. Sally knitted, sewed and quilted for most of her life and taught herself to play the piano. Also, she enjoyed all kinds of puzzles and was an avid reader.

Besides her husband, Albert, Sally is survived by a sister, Arlene Fabbri of Richmond, Maine, daughters; Gail Copple and spouse Charles Copple, Susan Harnicar Jackson and spouse Donald Jackson, Linda Weingart and spouse Philip Weingart, Karen Gavell and spouse Robert Gavell.
