Morris – James K. Crowell, 66, passed away on May 22, 2018 at Danbury Hospital. Jim was the husband of Theresa (Lafauci) Crowell. He was born on June 1, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA, son of the late Carrie Ezra Bright and John Henry Bright.

Jim was raised in Harwinton, Connecticut and attended Lewis S. Mills High School, graduating in 1969. He worked as a home improvement contractor for more than 43 years, retiring in 2012. Carpentry wasn’t just a job to Jim, it was who he was. Jim was a life member of the Elks Club and the Venetta Club. He had a love for Studebaker Vintage cars, deep sea fishing and bird watching over the pond out his front windows. He often enjoyed a glass of Carlo Rossi or a Miller Lite with a shot of black velvet. His favorite hobby of all was managing Leo’s Café with his wife for nearly 40 years, where he gained so many friends who became family.

In addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by four daughters: Jennifer Crowell of Torrington, Melissa Corey (Patrick) of Goshen, Alicia Crowell (Chris) of Morris, and Heather Crowell Tewksbury (Natasha) of Torrington, two sons: James Crowell Jr. (Tiffanie) of Torrington and Jonathan Crowell (Katie) of Middletown, his brother John Crowell (Elsa) of Scottsdale, AZ, his sister Debbie Crowell of Marionville, MO, his brother-in-law Ron French of Torrington, 11 grandchildren and lots of extended family and friends. Love for his family and friends showed in all he did, every day.

In addition to his forever parents, Carrie and John Bright, he is predeceased in life by his sister by heart Carol (Bright) French, and his biological mother Violet Marie Howland.

Calling hours will be held at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4-7pm and Friday, June 1, 2018 from 10:00-11:00am with a processional leading to Christian service held at 11:30am at the Church of Christ Congregational, 5 Old Middle Street, Goshen, CT 06756.
