Obituary for Henry F. Klosowski Jr.

Henry F. Klosowski, Jr., age 74, of Northfield, CT, formerly of Terryville, CT, died peacefully on May 5, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Bristol, CT, on August 22, 1943, he was the son of the deceased Olga (Funk) and Henry F. Klosowski, Sr. Raised in Terryville, he attended Terryville Schools and was a member of the graduating class of 1961. He obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut. Henry taught social studies at Wamogo Regional High School in Litchfield, CT, for 40 years and continued as a substitute teacher after his retirement. He was also employed by the US Postal service as a part-time driver and letter carrier for many years. Henry was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Terryville, CT. He was an avid outdoorsman with a great love of fishing and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Thomaston Fish and Game Club and an active member of the Bristol Fish and Game club. When not involved with outside activities, Henry was an inveterate “news junkie”, known to watch news broadcasts for hours on end.

Henry is survived by his beloved companion for many years, Margaret Borger, of Thomaston, and her family; daughters; Colleen (Kevin) O’Connor, Karen (Joseph) Packtor, Kathleen (Kevin) Sayre, and her grandchildren who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Paul Newcity of Somers, formerly of Harwinton, and by his nephew and wife, James and Monica Newcity of Somers. He leaves an aunt, Victoria (Quinto) Klosowski of Bristol and many cousins and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, there are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 134 Main Street, Terryville, CT, on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00am.
