Alice Ruth Pullin
Beloved and devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother

A. Ruth (Martin) Pullin, wife of Nile C. Pullin Jr, passed away on June 15, 2017.

Ruth was born on July 28, 1944 in Brooksville, FL, daughter of the late Ina Ray Martin and Lester W. Martin. She was a resident of Morris, CT for over 48 years. Ruth worked at Carmody & Torrance LLP, Waterbury, retiring as Legal Administrator after more than 22 years. Jokingly referring to her ‘failed retirement’, she returned to work accepting a position at the Greater Waterbury Regional Chamber of Commerce where she enjoyed working for 6 years as Finance Manager. She then joined Seaboard Solar Company of New Milford, as Director of Human Resources.

Ruth graduated from NWCC and attended Post University and the University of Connecticut. She was active in The Boy Scouts of America (both of her sons were Eagle Scouts), was a founding member and Chairman of the Morris Thrift Shop, and was a member of both the Connecticut Chapter of Records Managers and the Nutmeg Chapter of Legal Administrators-who honored her with a life time membership. Ruth volunteered for The United Way and Acts 4 Ministry. She was formerly on the board of directors and advisory committees for several businesses. She was a former Sunday school teacher at the Thomaston Congregational Church and a deaconess at the Morris Congregational Church.

Ruth enjoyed sailing and entertaining friends on their sailboat and at home. Ruth was Membership Chairman for the Baldwin Yacht club where she enjoyed getting to know people and was a friend to all. Ruth enjoyed many things but her biggest joys were her children and grandchildren.

Ruth is survived her husband of 52 years, Nile C. Pullin, Jr.; sons Nile Chris Pullin and his wife Amy, of Chester, CT, Brian Pullin and his wife Sarah of Berkeley, CA; four grandchildren - Julia, Jamie, Melinda and Andrew; sisters Betty Hilke, Shirley Fee, Carolyn Martin, Linda Fischer Mattingly all of FL, Pauline Rosen of CA; brother Ray Martin of FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Ruth’s favorite charity, ACTS 4 Ministry, 1713 Thomaston Ave. Waterbury, CT 06704.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 22, 4-7 PM at the Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT 06759.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 24, 11:00 AM at the Morris Congregational Church, 9 East Street, Morris, CT 06763.

Burial will take place on June 28 in St. Albans, WV.
