Obituary for Patricia F. Rickard

Loving Nana

It is with great sadness, that the family of Patricia F. Rickard announces her passing on October 17, 2018 at the age of 71. Pat, an avid birder, a free spirit who always had a song in her soul, was a lifelong Litchfield County resident.

Patricia attended college for Early Childhood education and spent many years volunteering at the Camp Maria Pratt Girl Scout Day camp each summer for many years. She was also a supporter of Girl Scouting in General. Pat had a passion for the arts which included language, music, crafts, and reading books new and old. She was known to have even read cookbooks cover to cover. She also spent many hours at White Memorial walking the trails, taking in nature, and observing birds in their natural habitat. Some of the fondest memories she shared were stories about her childhood home in Goshen, her home and wooded acreage in Harwinton, picnics at NW CT State Parks, and the Cape Cod coastline. Pat was known to say, “love each day” and “The universe is working perfectly.” One of the quotes that she lived by was “Live as you might die tomorrow, and learn is if you might live forever” - Ghandi

Pat was the daughter the late Fran and Doris Grusauskas of Goshen, CT widow of the late James H. Rickard of Harwinton, CT and mother of the late Wendy Rickard.

She is survived by her son Talbot Rickard of southern Maine, daughter Nina Mefford of Morris, CT. She had four siblings, Joan, Barbara, Denise and Frank and nine grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly.

Calling hours will be held at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd. Litchfield, CT October 22, 2018 from 5-7pm with a service following.
