William was from Bantam Ct and was a graduate of Litchfield High School. He worked for The Torrington Company for many years. He also worked at Workman Apartments Assisted Living for the Elderly and The Wisdom House and volunteered with the Warren Fire Department.

William was a man of many talents and hobbies. His passions included, rebuilding small engines, camping with his wife and dog, day trips out of state, hunting, fishing, farming and doting on his family. William was a family man with a huge heart.

He is survived by the love of his life of 47 years, Donna M. Mabe-Box. He also leaves behind, his sisters, Jennie Strong, Sandra Hansen, Donna Bordua and her husband Danny Bordua along with a brother-in-law and wonderful friend, Edward P. Mabe. His children include his loving eldest daughter, Katherine M. Box Jenkins and her husband Jimmy Jenkins, his youngest daughter, Tonya Mabe and her husband David Foshay, his eldest son, William H. Box 3rd and his wife Heather Box, and his beloved youngest son, Michael J. Box and his wife Allison Box. In addition, he leaves behind his grandchildren, Heather Trempanier Geant, Jordan Rogcaz, Kristen Jenkins, Jamie Jenkins, Brittany Wilson, Breann Box, Dylan Box, Ashley St. Pierre, Parker Bishop, Weston Bishop, Giannna Box, Nicholas Box, Jordyn Box, Christopher Box, Mason Box, Jeremy Foshay, Cody Mabe and Summer Mabe; his great grandchildren, Bryce Geant, Rayden Geant, Caiden Lyons, Carson Lyons, Faith LaCasse and Aaden LaCasse. He also leaves behind his best friends, Donnie Anderson, Terry Simmons "Bro", Gary Penell and his beloved dog, Alvin. In addition, many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends. William is predeceased by his father, William H. Box Sr., and his mother Hazel E. Box.

Calling hours will be held from 11 am, to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, at Rowe Funeral Home, 293 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will follow in East Morris Cemetery.
