Condolence From: Doug Pepin
Condolence: I'm saddened to hear of Mark's passing. He was a Captain at the Norwich armory and was my first commander in the Reserves in the late 80's to early 90's. I was proud to become a drill sergeant in his company. I couldn't have asked for a better commander. He went way above and beyond the call of duty to take care of the soldiers under his command. The Army Reserves was a better place because of his dedication to the mission and to taking care of his soldiers. I look forward to seeing him in heaven You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolence From: Anne Jonas
Condolence: As yet another of the countless students whose lives Mr. Yanaway touched and shaped for the better, I am sending you my deepest condolences during this devastating time. As a student at Kenwood and beyond, I remember talking to Mark about faith and politics and education and the world, and he was a role model for me especially in his commitment to service, community, and family. His continued presence and support from afar was deeply meaningful to me, and I always looked forward to catching up in person someday. Remembering him, I am resolved to work harder and be more dedicated to justice and care. Anne, Abigail, and Henry, I am holding you in my heart. May the love of this extended community surround you and give you some warmth amidst the pain.

Condolence: Dear Anne, Abigail & Henry, My heart aches for all of you, in the loss of your husband & father. Mark was an amazing man......a patriot & hero to our country, he was thoughtful, kind, brave, and so much more. He walked the walk of being a wonderful husband & amazing father. He loved you with a passion that can't be put into words. One of many fond memories I have is of Mark coming to dinner at our house, before he met Anne, and bringing with him the movie, Princess Bride. When he met you, Anne, you became his "princess bride". He adored you and it was obvious in the wonderful life the 2 of you built together. I will miss him dearly, but know one day we'll be with him again, for eternity, with Christ our Savior. Only then will we know why God called him home much too soon for us.

Condolence From: DAVID ROBICHAUD
Condolence: I served under Mark for over 20 years on 4 continents. He was an outstanding officer and fine friend. Many of you may recall his favorite character, Maximus, the Roman general of Gladiator. It brings to mind an apt eulogy: Brothers, what we do in life echoes in eternity...Strength and Honor. From my family to Anne, Abigail and Henry; and to all others who will miss this good man, we offer our condolences. Requiescat in pace. Dave Robichaud

Condolence From: Patricia Hafey
Condolence: My heart breaks hearing this news of Mr. Yanaways passing. He was such a positive influence in my son's success at school 3 years ago. As a substitute, I enjoyed updating Mark on what my son was doing, and I love the story about how my son was sleepy one morning in 9th grade and fell asleep while in Mr Yanaway's class. He had to do push ups. He never did sleep in his class again, and he continues to have the passion of history in his blood, and use it. He is also an Eagle Scout, and Mr Yanaway showed up, because that is what he did. I also met his daughter as a substitute a couple years ago, and in the teachers lunch room he updated me about her future pursuits. He was proud, as I am of my son, so we had that common connection. I will miss our chats in the teachers room, but I will cherish my sons face beeming at graduation, with Mr Yanaway. It is such a difficult time, because I see how much Mark meant to my son. God Bless you durng this tme of heartbreak...Patricia and Tom Hafey and our son Will✝✝☮☮

Condolence From: Dayna Ingraham
Condolence: Mark Yanaway was a very inspiring mentor. Not only was he working for his students' success, but he also had a kind heart when it came to our wellbeing, and that is the exact kind of example that needs to be set for other teachers, and people in general. To look out for each other and help guide others through tough times. I enjoyed his classes throughout the 4 years I've attended Wamaogo, and since I graduated in 2012, I will remember these times that went by too quickly. I am so sorry for the loss of this amazing man. May he rest in peace. Dayna Ingraham
