Obituary for Kathleen M. Eaton

Kathleen M. Eaton
Kathleen “Kay” Eaton passed away at the age of 97 on April 9th, 2018.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Eaton, an Army Sargent in World War II. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Robert Curtiss, of New Preston; her granddaughter, Lorien Crow, also of New Preston; her niece and nephew-in-law, Charlene and Angelo D’Allessio of Stratford; and her niece Sheila “Beau” Ryan, of Florida.
Kay was born in Newark, New Jersey, but spent most of her childhood and early married years in Bridgeport, CT. She and Harold later moved to Monroe, CT, where they continued to raise their only daughter Laurel.
During World War II, Kay worked in a factory assembling radar equipment to support the war effort. She also worked for a time in the Vitramon factory in Monroe. Later in life, she became a loving nanny to several families in the Roxbury, CT area, with whom she stayed in touch with long after the children were grown. Most of them—and many of her granddaughter’s friends—have affectionately called her “Nana” for their entire lives.
Kay was very active with the Roxbury Seniors, and loved going on trips and adventures with her friends. She loved reading, and frequently attended book club at the Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury.
Kay also loved animals, especially cats, and her late great-granddog Froggy the pug. As such, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of America or the North Shore Animal League.
Kay will be fondly remembered for her fun-loving spirit, her humor, and her willingness to share a piping hot cup of tea with anyone who arrived on her doorstep.
Calling hours are Friday, April 13th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield, CT 06759, followed by a brief Catholic service at 7.
