Ms. Barbara A. Aurell, 79, of Morris, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at Rose Haven in Litchfield.

Barbara was born in Torrington, CT on September 29, 1937, daughter of the late Sven David and Anna Moravick Aurell. She was raised in Morris on the Aurell family farm. Barbara graduated the twelfth grade from the James Morris School, prior to the creation of the Regional High School, Wamogo. Her entire career was spent at Aetna where she worked her way up to Assistant Vice President of Aetna Capital Management. Barbara enjoyed traveling with family and friends. When she retired, she moved back to Morris and built a home on the family farm land. Barbara served on many boards and committees in the town of Morris. She was an avid reader and enjoyed long walks observing wildlife. Barbara’s true passions were flowers, gardening, and bears.

She leaves her brothers; Kenneth and his wife Deena and David, niece Karen and husband Kevin, nephews; John and Brian Aurell and their mother Gail Fairclough, aunts, and several cousins and her longest and dearest friends Dottie and Frank Ragonese.

We would like to thank the staff at Rose Haven for the phenomenal care Barbara received. She really enjoyed all of you and called you friends. In her last months she was happy and at peace with life.

Barbara was an avid donor to many different charities. In her honor, please perform an act of kindness to someone or make a donation to a charity of your choice.

There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
