Loving husband, father and grandfather

Morris – Lincoln C. Bertaccini age 92 passed on October 3, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Joan Bertaccini. He was born on October 6, 1924 in Bantam, CT, the son of Celso and Maria Verzi Bertaccini. He grew up in Bantam, attended Litchfield public schools and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1943. He attended Wentworth Military Academy upon graduation and was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944. He served as tank gunner in the 13th Armored Division, earning a battle star in combat in Germany.

After his discharge from the army he attended the University of Bridgeport on the GI Bill and earned a BS degree in accounting and economics. In 1950 he married Mary H. Wiggin of New Haven, CT.

He resided in Litchfield and Morris CT for his entire life. He is survived by his three children, Blair Bertaccini, Timothy Bertaccini and Sandra Bertaccini, his granddaughter Sophia Voight and his wife Joan. He worked as an accountant for manufacturing firms and in 1985 retired from the Boise Cascade Corporation. After his retirement he decided to return to accounting and went to work to for Salisbury School. He loved sports, played soccer, basketball and baseball in high school and soccer in college. During his years in Litchfield he coached Little League for a decade. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. He attended St. Anthony Church in Litchfield and was devoted parishioner.

After the death of first wife, Mary, in 1999 he married Joan Purves and took up residence in Morris, where he served on the Board of Assessment Appeals and the Board of Finance.
He survived his two elder brothers, Paul and Joseph Bertaccini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield, CT 06759. Burial with full military honors will follow in East Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
