Thomas Y. Smart

New Milford- Thomas Smart, 64, devoted husband to Paula passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home on Friday, May 19, 2017. He was born in Torrington on August 25, 1952 to the late Douglas and Shelia Smart of Litchfield.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three children; Sandi Douglas, Karyn Tarutis, and Jonathan Tarutis, as well as their respective spouses; Pat, Luke and Emily, the shining light of his life was his nine month old granddaughter, Braelyn. He is also survived by three brothers; Jon and his wife Karen, Michael and Kim, three sisters; Maryanne Spring and her husband Brian, Paige Main and Susan Smart, two nieces Alison and Heather and three nephews David, Jon and Michael.

Tom was predeceased by a brother Kelly.

He will greatly be missed by lifelong friends and family for his compassion, devotion and kindness to all who knew him personally and professionally. Formerly president of applicators and coatings consultants, located in Marshalls Creer, Pennsylvania, he was a foremost authority on Paints and Coatings.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Milton Headquarters Cemetery on Headquarters Road, Milton.
