Jean E. Chiron

Harwinton - Jean E. Chiron, of Harwinton, passed away on January 21, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Jean was born on November 30, 1927 in Torrington, daughter of the late Alphonse and Ada (Vinton) Chiron. She was raised in Harwinton and attended the Orchard Hill Schoolhouse. She graduated from Torrington High School and Simmons College in Boston. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Boston, at Charlotte Hungerford, for the city of Hartford, for the Brad Walker Homecare Agency and for Adams House Healthcare. She traveled extensively with her late sister Marjorie and later with friends. She loved to drive and took many trips to Vermont, New York and local destinations. She was active in the Torrington Woman's Club for many years, was a tutor for Literacy Volunteers and was active in several other service organizations during her life. She was a life-long learner and enjoyed art and music courses at Northwestern CT Community College in her later years.

Jean is survived by a nephew Richard V. Chiron, Jr., of Colebrook, a niece Cathy-Lynne Coyle of Burlington and a niece Janette M. Chiron of Kailua-Kona Hawaii and their families. She leaves four great nieces and nephews and her sister-in-laws Joann Chiron of Texas and Lorene Chiron of Torrington. Jean was predeceased by a sister Marjorie A. Chiron and a brother Richard V. Chiron.

Jean's family wishes to thank her companions/caregivers Connie, Cindy, Sandy and Sheila for making her last year a happy and healthy one. They were not just care-givers they were friends to Jean. Thanks also to the staff of the Workman Apartments.

Calling hours will be held on January, 30, 2017 from 10:00am-11:45am at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT 06759. A service will begin at 11:45am. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington.
