Thomaston - Thomas John Collins, 63, husband of Dan (Arnold) Collins passed away on January 15, 2017 at the Veteran’s Hospital in West Haven. Thom and Dan were married on September 3, 2016 after spending 22 years of their lives together. Thomas was born on November 2, 1953 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Lawrence Collins and Dorothy (Blanchard) Mackenzie.
Thomas graduated from Thomaston High School, Northwestern Connecticut Community College with an Associate’s degree and San Diego State University graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Thomas was in the Navy for 4 years and worked for AT&T for 35 years. He was an avid reader, shopper and was always working on a new household project. Thomas had a love for traveling and animals.
In addition to his husband, Dan, he is survived by his sister Lauren Sage, two brothers; Lawrence Collins Jr. and Bruce Collins, niece Stacey Pernal and his dear cousin Judith Elwood, his nephew Paul Pernal and wife Buffy, his goddaughter Katie St. John and many other family members who loved him dearly.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 107 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
A memorial service for all wanting to attend will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
