Obituary for Arthur Cleveland Merritt
Arthur C. Merritt, 87 of Mt. Pleasant Terr., died peacefully, at his home, Sunday, Jan 15, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Edna I. Merritt.
He was born Oct 10, 1921 in Torrington, CT. He was the son of the late Frank and Hazel (Cleveland) Merritt.
Arthur retired from Kimberly –Clark Corp after greater than 35 years of service. Following retirement, he and his wife owned Merritt’s Evergreen Farm in Walden, VT.
He is survived by two daughters Pamela Grusauskas and husband Peter, of Goshen, CT, Deborah Neathawk and husband Leon, of New Windsor, NY. and one son, Francis (Bob) Merritt and wife Lois of Salmon, Idaho.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Herrmann of Torrington, CT and Hazel Merritt of Winsted, CT. Two surviving sisters, Alice Merriman of Torrington, CT and Cindy Poland of Florida. Seven grandchildren, predeceased by one granddaughter. Nine great-grand children, and his devoted dog Annie, who never left his side.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, calling hours will be held from 11:00am-12:30pm with a service beginning at 12:30pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd, Litchfield, CT.
