Obituary for Elizabeth D. Darragh

Elizabeth D. Darragh, 88, passed away on October 28, 2016 after a brief illness at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was born in Redding on November 10, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and M. Helen Dioguardi. She was a long time resident of Redding before moving to Washington Depot with her beloved husband William J. Darragh who passed away in 2006.

For the past six years, Betty resided at Brandywine Assisted Living in Litchfield where she was loved dearly by residents and staff. Betty had a Masters Degree in education and taught school in Redding for 30 years. She loved working with children.

She is survived by two sisters; Joan Cole of North Carolina and Elinor Scurry - Burr of Orlando, Florida. She also had fourteen nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her brother Robert Dioguardi.

She attended church at St. Andrews in Marbledale and will be missed by her co-parishioners.

Mostly she will be missed by her good friends and neighbors, Walter and Alma Carlson who shared a common bond of love and admiration with her.

A Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 5, 2016 at 11:00am at the Washington Green Cemetery, Parsonage Lane, Washington, CT. There are no calling hours. All are welcome at her interment.
