Obituary for Carrie Coco

Carrie Coco
Litchfield - Carrie Coco, 73, passed away on October 19, 2016 at Rose Haven in Litchfield. She was born in New Britain, CT on November 4, 1942.

Carrie graduated from Torrington High School, attended the University of Chicago and studied photography at Indiana University and Fine Art at the International Center of Photography in New York. As an artist Carrie used images caught on her camera to illustrate the connections between the natural world and Spirit. The result was images of powerful beauty and meaningful reverence. In her own words she was “deeply fascinated by interactions. What happens when image, form and text come together to create a marriage for the senses? Where is the power, the light, indeed the Spirit in these juxtapositions? How are we transformed by the energy within these encounters?” Some of her images and thoughts can be seen on her website: Carriecoco.com. She sold the local business she had and developed, "Simply Business," in order to devote more of her energy to her artwork. She published a book “Prayers of Peace" in 2005.

Carrie is survived by her son Ross Coco, four grandchildren; Catherine, Dominic, Allana and Lida Coco all of Litchfield and her sister, Jane along with several extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
