Obituary for Elizabeth Lovich

Elizabeth Lovich
Elizabeth (Bellingeri) Lovich

Litchfield - Elizabeth Lovich, 93, passed away peacefully in her home on August 29, 2016 from complications of dementia. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Victor.
Liz was the last surviving member of her large and loving Italian family. She was born at home on Spring Street in Windsor Locks, CT, on March 1, 1923, the daughter of Silvio and Mary (Raggio) Bellingeri. Her sisters were Irene, Rose and Josephine, and her brothers were Edward, Raymond and David.
She graduated as salutatorian from Windsor Locks High School in 1940 and then worked as a bookkeeper at F.S. Bidwell in Windsor Locks. She married Victor Lovich of Suffield, CT in 1953, and two years later they moved to Litchfield, CT., where Liz lived for the rest of her life.
Liz loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of a local duckpin bowling league, enjoyed playing cards, and went polka dancing with Victor every weekend for many years, traveling as far as Pennsylvania on an afternoon to see a favorite band. She was a skilled baker, and won dozens of ribbons for her pies at the Goshen Fair year after year. She won blue ribbons in the Connecticut Association of State Fairs Apple Pie contest on several occasions. But she had the most fun going to the casino, where she loved playing the slots. She also worked for nearly 20 years as the Executive Secretary to neighbor Edward L. Mabry, the retired chief executive of Richardson-Merrill.
Liz will be greatly missed by her loving children Susan Murray, and her husband Dennis, Laura O’Connell and her husband John, and David Lovich and his companion Beth Obstgarten, as well as many friends and family members.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and caregivers who filled Liz’s life with kindness, laughter, and compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Northwest, 607 Bantam Road, Bantam, CT 06750.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Litchfield, CT.
