John Edward Murphy
40 Year member of Litchfield Fire Department

Litchfield - John Edward Murphy, 83, passed away Feb. 16, 2017. John was born Aug. 28, 1933 to the late William and Alice Murphy and was a lifelong Litchfield resident. He worked at B. E. Aerospace on the assembly line and retired early to care for his ailing mother. He also worked at Murphy’s Pharmacy as a counter clerk and was very proud to be a forty-year member of the Litchfield Fire Department. John enjoyed working with power equipment and heavy machinery.

He is survived by three nieces; Elizabeth Murphy and her husband, Mark Heinitz, and their two children of Springfield, VA; Christine Maltais and her husband, John Maltais, and their daughter of Springfield, MA; and Marla Golden and her husband, Karl Golden, of Torrington and three nephews; Mark Murphy and his wife, Joanne Murphy, of Bantam and their son of Vernon; Thomas Murphy and his wife, Colleen Murphy, and their children of Litchfield; and John Murphy and his wife, Tricia Murphy, and their children of Litchfield.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb.19th at 3:00 at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd. Litchfield. Burial will be private in St. Anthony Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2pm to 3pm prior to the service.
