James D.  Neal Jr.
James D. Neal, Jr., 68, passed away on July 2, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Carlone) Neal. James was born on May 14, 1947 in New Haven to the late James and Catherine (O’Sullivan) Neal.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, son Christopher Neal, daughter Heather Kasvinsky, son-in-law Matthew and grandchildren, Lucy (5) and Sander (2). He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Neal and eleven nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by two brothers; Kevin and Brian Neal.

Jim (Rusty) was a founding member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity at Quinnipiac College. He was a Staff Sargeant and squadron leader in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 102nd Infantry. He retired in 2013 as CFO from Treadwell Industries in Thomaston, CT. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim was also known as an avid golfer. He got his first hole-in-one on May 31, 2015; he said “It only took me 50 years!” Jim worked very hard his entire life and had a keen interest in learning about new things. Many will remember his smile, kindness, simplicity and his love for life, family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
