Torrington - Deirdre Anne Hubbard, age 57, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, November 24, 2017 in Torrington, CT. Throughout her battle with cancer she displayed incredible courage, fortitude and always kept her outlook positive and upbeat. She always engaged her friends and family with her classic Irish wit, sassiness and selfless devotion. Deirdre was born on January 1, 1960 in Torrington, the first New Years baby born at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital that year. Deirdre was the daughter of the late Anne Farley Hubbard and Thomas Kahn Hubbard. She attended Saint Margaret’s-McTernan School, Waterbury and received her degree from Dean Junior College, Franklin, MA. Deirdre worked as a film processor at Consumer Programs Incorporated (CPI) in Thomaston for 24 years and was a devoted volunteer at Open Door Soup Kitchen in Winsted, CT. Deirdre is survived by her dedicated brother and sister-in-law, Farley and Susan Hubbard of Colebrook, as well as her loving sisters, Tara Hubbard-Grant (Fred) of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Meghan Lucker (John) of Simsbury, Erin Hubbard of Goshen and Bridget Miles of Holden, MA. She also leaves her five adoring nieces and nephews, Sarah and Lizzie Miles and Connor (and his fiancé, Ashley Baglino), Taran and Piers Lucker. She was pre-deceased by her brother-in-law, David Miles. Deirdre’s family would like to thank the compassionate, loving caregivers at Litchfield Woods Health Center – your kindness and dedication with our sister will never be forgotten. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Litchfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Door Soup Kitchen, 160 Main Street, P.O. Box 57, Winsted, CT 06098.
