Obituary for Marie E. Stroker

Marie Elena Christina Biondi Stroker passed away at the age of 94, peacefully at home in her own bed in Morris on January 11, 2019, with family members at her side.

Marie was the mother of 5, grandmother of 8, great-grandmother of 10, great-great grandmother of 4 and fortunate enough to hold all of these generations in her arms.

Marie was tough as steel with a tender heart. She was braver than she was tall. She had hands built to corral beasts, but were best when tending the Earth. Her passion was as strong as her men. Falling first for a sailor, then blossoming with her cowboy.

Marie loved the sunshine and summer. Yellow was her favorite color, and few moments were better than sharing a laugh with her.

Marie found joy in being with people. She had a great passion for and was a talented bridge player. She had bridge groups play at her home, and played at many friends homes and many town Community Centers.

She loved horses from her childhood. She started owning horses when she lived in Middlebury and continued owning them in Morris. She taught all her children to ride horses. Marie loved raising and showing horses.

She loved collecting antiques and for about ten years had an antique shop, Martingale Antiques. Her favorite day was the day Jane Fonda showed up at her shop and spent nearly an hour chatting with her.

Marie loved cross-country skiing, country music, riding her old blue bike, beaching on Cape Cod, swimming in her pond, crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and playing boggle. She loved watching late night comedy shows and watched them sometimes until 3 in the morning.

She will be surely missed. She is survived by her children: Laurie Churchill, Chris Stroker and daughter-in-law Liz, Lisa Stroker Remondino and son-in law, Ron, Tim Stroker and daughter-in law, Cheryl; grandchildren Becki Traut and grandson-in-law, Todd, Shannon Stroker, Kristen Willard and grandson-in-law, Bobby, Eric C. Stroker, Lindsey Stroker, Spencer Stroker, Calista Remondino; great-grandchildren: Amanda, Shannon-Nicole, Zachary, Jeremy, Katelyn, Jack, Shana, Joshua, Madison, Christina: and great-great grandchildren: Katrina, Kamden, Kelly-May and Wiley.

Marie was predeceased in death by Gary Stroker, her son, John Stroker, her first husband, Newell Martin, her second husband and Jessica Stroker her granddaughter.

All of who loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, sense of humor, charm, grace and undying love and care for all.

She loved, she was loved, and she knew.

The little rubber ball has made it's final bounce, a mighty one, into the ether and returning to stardust.
