Obituary for Laurence P. O'Toole

Laurence P.  O'Toole
Laurence Paul O’Toole, born July 1944 died April 2015. Resident of Warren CT. Passed away peacefully in his sleep. Larry was born in Bridgeport, CT on July 8th, 1944 to the late John W. O'Toole, Jr, and Laurie Ellen (Brown) O'Toole.
Larry graduated from Wamogo Regional High School in 1963. A veteran of The Vietnam War where he served as Lance Corporal in the Marines from 1965-1968. He was awarded two purple hearts. He was a member of the American Legion and of the VFW. Larry worked as a master electrician all over the world, including on the Alaskan Pipeline and in Saudi Arabia. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Predeceased by his brother Richard, survived by John W. O'Toole, 3rd, and his wife Gail, Eustis, FL, his sister Christine A. O'Toole of Boston, MA. "Uncle Bonnie" had many nieces, one nephew, and many grand nieces and nephews. Larry was especially proud of his great niece Delaney Heaberlin, who he watched play softball in Cooperstown, NY in the summer of 2014. Larry is also survived by many, many friends who were more like family to him, including Sam and Linda Bertaccini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 5-7pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will be held in the spring.

Pay4ward, is a non-profit organization started by Larry's friend, Ray Hayes, that teaches combat vets how to sail. "Pay4ward reintegrates combat vets into society through sailing. Day sailing in an open boat require teamwork and communication. It involves shared physical activities and develops camaraderie for the vets involved."
