Obituary for Frances B. Zampaglione

Frances B. Zampaglione
Frances B. Zampaglione
Everybody’s Grammy and Aunt Fran

Frances B. Zampaglione, 95, passed away on her own terms at her home of 62 years, on Sunday evening, January 11th, with family by her side. The window was opened after her passing and her spirit was set free to join James, her husband of 65 years who pre-deceased her in 2001 and Elizabeth “Libby” Zampaglione, her great-granddaughter, who pre-deceased her in 2013 as well as other close family and friends who have all pre-deceased her.
Frances was born in Goshen on 7/20/1919 to Lyman and Bessie (Siddell) Baldwin. She attended local schools in Cornwall and Torrington. When Frances turned 16 she and the love of her life, James eloped to New York State and were married on her 16th birthday. They lived in Torrington for 18 years before buying land in Goshen, where James built their home in 1953.
This home became a favorite place for her son and friends thru their high school years and later a great focal point for both sides of the family as a trip to Aunt Fran’s generally was met with much fun and merriment.
Frances worked by her husband’s side for 48 years keeping the books for Goshen Plumbing & Heating and later for Francesca’s Antiques in their “retired years.”
Frances leaves behind a son, James R. Zampaglione and wife Janice, of The Villages, FL, her grandson, Jeffrey S. Zampaglione and wife, Brenda of Litchfield, 2 great-granddaughters; Juliet Lucia and Katharine Rose Zampaglione of Litchfield, a brother, Lyman J. Baldwin and wife Rosmond of Naples FL and several nieces and nephews. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Emily Baldwin Kerygato and brother Leslie Baldwin both of Torrington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 19, 2015, at 11:00am at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Goshen. Burial will be private in the springtime. Calling hours are Sunday from 2pm to 5pm at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield. Frances was always deeply connected to people helping their own in the “GREAT” Town of Goshen. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Goshen Community Care and Hospice, PO Box 202 or Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 193, Goshen, CT 06756.
