Obituary for Edward David Zeiner Sr.

Torrington- Edward David Zeiner Sr., 62, passed away on October 18, 2013 at home. He was the husband of Lillian (Basile) Zeiner.

Born on May 15, 1951 in Torrington, Conn., he was the son of Edward J. Zeiner and June (Butts) Zeiner of Torrington. Ed was raised in Torrington and graduated from WAMOGO Regional High School. He worked for Deveraux-Glenholme School in Washington, Conn. for 32 years.

He was a member of the 2nd Connecticut Heavy Artillery of Woodbury, Conn and enjoyed gardening, fishing and building model rockets.

Ed was very interested in the Civil War and participated along with his Regiment in Civil War reenactments with the 2nd CT Heavy Artillery. He loved music and playing his guitar with his brother Mark. He was most happy spending time with his family and loved making holidays extra special. He enjoyed watching civil war movies. He loved wood working, target shooting, and building and racing cars in his earlier years. Ed acted in two Civil War movies: Elisha Stockwell and Angel of Death. He was very talented in art and created several oil paintings. He also was a volunteer fireman in Burrville.

In addition to his wife, Lillian, and parents, Edward and June, he is survived by 2 sons; Edward D. Zeiner Jr. and Jason R. Zeiner, both of Goshen, 4 brothers; Mark Zeiner and wife, Patty, of Goshen, Jeffrey Zeiner, Jonathan Zeiner and wife, Karen, and Robert Zeiner and wife, Maureen, all of Torrington; grandson, Andrew Zeiner, and granddaughter, Vanessa Zeiner, both of Thomaston; along with many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 10:00am at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Calling hours will be Monday, October 21, 2013 from 4-7pm at Rowe Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, 73123.
