Obituary for Philip M. Gargan

Philip M. Gargan of Cornwall Hollow, Connecticut died peacefully at Sharon Hospital surrounded by his family on October 5, 2016.

Originally of Kilkenny, Ireland, Phil (Gar) arrived in NYC in 1958 and with his wife, Mary, moved to Washington, CT in 1962. A butcher by trade, he continued this work until his retirement in 1992. Gar was passionate about tennis: playing, watching and teaching. His love for the small towns of Washington, Roxbury, Warren, Kent and Cornwall was evident.

Philip is survived by Mary, his wife of 55 years, daughters Oona (Austa Falconer), of Milpitas, CA, Eileen (Michael Redmond) of Cornwall Hollow, and his son David of Lake Worth, FL as well as his beloved grandchildren Kathleen and Hilary Rogers and Alex and Susie Cadorin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Cornwall Bridge at Saint Bridget Church on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:00am. Burial immediately following and reception at the church hall.
