Obituary for John D. Crusius
John D. Crusius
Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
Northfield – John D. Crusius, age 77 passed away on September 2, 2017 at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canaan, CT of Alzheimer’s Disease. He was the husband of Barbara Sutliffe Crusius. John was born February 7, 1940 in Hartford, CT to the late John Harold Crusius and Rose (Arnold) Crusius. He was raised in Vermont and New Hampshire.
John was an entrepreneur and former member of the Northfield, CT Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Descendants of Colonial Governors, Crown of Charlemagne, Baronial Order of Magna Charta, Hereditary Society Community of the United States of America, Flagon and Trencher, Sons of the American Revolution, Mayflower Descendants, Founders and Patriots of America and Founds of Hartford.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, his son Michael J. Crusius of Shelby, Iowa, his daughter Kimberly J. (Rocco) Caputo of Plymouth, CT, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his daughter-in-law Teresa (Crehan) Crusius, two sisters-in-law; Susan and Marge Linsley and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Johnathan D. Crusius and his five brothers; William Mills, Charles, Roger, Donald Linsley and John H. Crusius, two sisters; Ester Elder and Geraldine Jackson, two brothers-in-law; Guy Elder and Fred Jackson.
A special thank you to the staff at the Rose Haven (Litchfield) and Geer (Canaan) facilities for their patience and care. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.
