A graduate of New Trier High School and Yale University (Class of 1942), he served in the U.S. Army Air Force in India during WW II, after which he worked at The Torrington Company, and later for Prudential Insurance.

He took great pleasure in fishing, playing bridge, walking his golden retrievers, and cultivating a vegetable garden. An active member of the First Congregational Church, Bud was an avid reader with a strong interest in the Civil War. He was also a diehard N.Y. Giants and Yankees fan.

He is also survived by his sons Jeffrey and his wife, Doe of Chester; Christopher and his wife, Mishy of Boston; a daughter-in-law, Karen of Torrington; four grandchildren, Melissa of Torrington, Joshua of Winsted, Brett of New York City; and Ryan of Boston; and, two great grandsons, Paul and Sam of Torrington.
